HI, I'M MACKENZIE.

You can call me Mack.

I was born and raised in Metro Detroit but found a new home on the west coast while earning two bachelor's degrees at the University of Oregon before moving to Salt Lake City, Utah.

I married the study of journalism and environmental science into one education. Why? Because I believe environmental issues are human issues. That science and story aren't as different as we think.

Since 2018, I have been a multimedia journalist covering the FIS Alpine World Cup circuit for clients such as NBC Sports Group, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, and Ski Racing Media. I’ve traveled solo throughout the European camera and tripod in hand, conducting broadcast interviews and spinning news stories from my experiences on the road. In 2022, I had the unique experience of covering the Beijing Olympics, expanding my sports j pallet to freeskiing, snowboarding, and nordic sports in addition to alpine.

My training may be in sports journalism and science communication, but my interests don't stop there.

I'm inspired by: stories of empathy, questioning the status quo, NYTimes multimedia features, emotional films, and classic rock music.

I'm known for: bringing passion to the project, doing my research, and not being afraid to get my hands dirty.

I like: creating human connections, discovering the unknown, color, powder days, and a good brew.

I am a writer, photographer, and communications specialist available for hire.

You can find my work in SKI Magazine, NBC Sports, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Park City Community Foundation, evo.com, Ski Racing Media, and more.
